The project focuses on the distribution of the student population in compulsory education among different schools in Milan, analysing ethnic and social segregation. Furthermore, the distribution of the student population is compared to that of the general population of residents in Milan, using the school district as unit of analysis. The comparison allows us to highlight school segregation. Finally, the flows between catchment areas and school districts are analysed, in order to highlight the factors that favour school choices leading to an increase in school segregation. Overall, the research allows us to verify the importance of ethnic and social segregation in compulsory education in Milan, and to identify the choices families make to avoid difficult social situations as the main driver of school segregation.<\/p>\n
