Scientific literature and international organizations agree in identifying early childhood education and care (ECEC) as a cornerstone of equal and sustainable societies. ECEC policies and services are deeply intertwined with evolving socio-economic, demographic, and family dynamics, as well as the life cycle, offering responses that vary in their adequacy and effectiveness.
Recognizing this, SPL focuses its research on the relationship between ECEC services and policies and key areas such as work-life balance, children’s cognitive and relational development, socio-economic inequalities, and processes of social integration.
