Postdoctoral Research Fellow, currently working on the project “EDIN – Understanding ‘school effects’: how the socio-economic and ethnic composition of schools affects educational inequalities”. Berenice has a PhD in Social and Policy Sciences from the University of Bath. Prior to joining the SPL, she was Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Urbino, on the Horizon project “CLEAR – Constructing Learning Outcomes in Europe: A multi-level analysis of (under)achievement in the life course”, and Research Director at the National Centre for Social Research (UK), leading applied research and programme evaluations in the field of education and youth inequalities. Her research is concerned with how social inequalities are (re)produced or transformed in and through education, focusing on the interplay of socio-economic, ethnic and gender background in constructing learners’ experiences and identities. She is the author of the recently published book ‘British-Bangladeshi Women in Higher Education: Aspirations, Inequities, and Identities’.
