Giulia Marroccoli is a research fellow at the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies, where she collaborates on the project “Unraveling school segregation causes and effects towards an Italian urban model”. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology, and her thesis analysed pathways of upward social mobility among youth with migrant background, adopting a comparative perspective between Turin, Italy, and Lyon, France. Previously, she served as a research fellow at the University of Turin, participating in several projects focused on the inclusion processes of migrants and their descendants. Most recently, she contributed to a project aimed at deconstructing the prevailing negative narratives surrounding migration in Italy, and her research has explored the impact of discrimination on the professional trajectories of immigrant descendants. Her primary research interests include social mobility, professional paths, and social inclusion processes of immigrant descendants, interethnic relations, international migration, and social stratification and inequalities.
