Schools are a strategic cornerstone for fostering the human capital essential for social inclusion and mobility, economic development and future competitiveness. While educational institutions are inherently dedicated to promoting equal opportunities for all, evidence highlights a contrasting reality: schools can sometimes perpetuate inequalities and reinforce social exclusion, particularly among disadvantaged groups.
LPS prioritizes research into educational inequalities and policies. Current studies focus on school segregation, its far-reaching effects, its relationship with territorial features, the institutional setting and the decision-making processes of families and students regarding educational choices.
