Population ageing presents both challenges and opportunities for building inclusive and sustainable societies. The significant increase in the proportion of older people, a trend affecting nearly all advanced economies, leads to growing care needs, new challenges for the social inclusion of the most vulnerable older adults, and new opportunities for their active participation in various spheres of social life.
Given this evolving scenario, LPS focuses its research on key issues related to elder care, activation, and social inclusion. Current projects specifically address: i) the care needs of older adults, examining the structure and adequacy of long-term care systems and care arrangements, encompassing both formal and informal caregiving; ii) the challenges and opportunities of digitalization in promoting the social inclusion of older adults.
